Emeldi UniPortal - Telefonica O2 case study

Background

Emeldi UniPortal is a complex and highly reliable and flexible solution. UniPortal allows Telefonica to effectively implement new services and to simply edit a current product portoflio. UniPortal also provides an advanced and very useful monitoring of all orders.

Due to our Group consultancy experience gained from other Telco projects we knew even before the UniPortal development phase, what Telecom companies normally require in this area. Thanks to availability of our “best practice” we managed to substantially speed up the specification and design phases. We also have not encountered any big surprises during integration and implementation of this product in Telefonica O2.

In autumn 2006 Telefonica introduced next generation products – bundles, IPTV, and various add-on products. In parallel with this they started to promote their ADSL products very actively – using special campaigns and time limited products. Campaigns were changed very frequently and this, naturally, impacted the legacy Web Ordering application. As the legacy application was not prepared for this, every small change, from a business point of view, was expensive and time-consuming.

Solution

In Q3 2007 H+P Invest (member of Emeldi Group) offered Telefonica O2 Emeldi UniPortal. There were integration challenges during analysis – UniPortal was reconfigured to communicate with Siebel, TBOSS, Telefonica O2 Residential address database, the back-office, and several other systems.

Thanks to open UniPortal middleware and Emeldi OpenAPI the integration task was completed and delivered for testing in less than 5 weeks.

UniPortal was also extended with all new functionalities that Telefonica O2 wanted – special discounts coupons, support for surveys and also the User Interface design was changed to fit Telefonica’s “look and feel”.
