The new system of Internet Orders in Telefónica O2 from Emeldi Group successfully passed the Christmas shopping fever


The Spanish telecommunication giant Telefónica has just celebrated its second Christmas on the Czech market with the first run of the new system of UniPortal WebOrdering provided by Emeldi Group.

This solution was implemented by Telefónica O2 Czech Republic in October 2007, with the pre-Christmas period designated as a test period of its reliability and robustness. Considering the entirely positive acceptance not only by Telefónica O2, but most importantly by customers, the new system acquit itself satisfactorily even under the demanding conditions of the Christmas holidays.

Over the course of 2007, Telefónica O2 introduced a wide range of new or modified products including a series of advantageous product packs, O2 TV (digital transmission of TV programs and films via digital data network) and many other complementary services. These activities generated a new demand for a quality ordering system. It was necessary to prepare a flexible, robust and easy-to-use ordering interface for end users so that to enable easy selection from a varied supply of products and services. Consequently, in 2007 Emeldi Group offered to design a custom-made solution which would ideally suit Telefónica O2 needs and business objectives. In its development, the existing Uniportal middleware and Emeldi OpenAPI were taken into account.

UniPortal WebOrdering is a highly specialized system for processing Internet orders enabling operators to flexibly modify the product portfolio offered via Internet and simultaneously accommodate the end user with a user-friendly environment. The order is easily processed in several separated steps in which the customer may choose particular products or services. The ordering system offers on-line verification of the products’ momentary availability as well as calculation of activation fees or monthly payments immediately in the course of the order. The leading features of UniPortal from the point of view of operators or providers of telecommunication services include in particular the high reliability even under maximum load, robustness, system complexity and substantial reduction in material costs and significant economy in time when launching new products (time to market) thanks to the standardization. In addition, the new system offers a unique authorization code for orders, independence from external systems and an order filing system which records all orders including those left incomplete.
